Rules and regulations
Monetary prices will be distributed among eligible players by secondary rating. Pairings are determined by the rules at the FIDE Congress at Puerto Rico. If players have ELO and DWZ ratings the higher rating will be used to determine which rating class a player belongs to. Incorrect information about ELO/DWZ ratings may cause the loss of prize money. Players without official ratings or tournament rating from previous Chess Classic tournaments are not eligible for winning rating prizes. Prizes are given away only at the official prizegiving ceremony after the tournament. Cut off date is 15 August of the following years: Senior 1942, Sub 18 1984, Sub 16 1986, Sub 15 1988, Sub 12 1990, Sub 10 1992. Prizes in rating- and special groups will only be awarded, if at least five participants play in the group concerned.
Important note: Smoking is strictly forbidden in the playing hall. Mobile phones have to be switched off completely in the playing hall. Players using electronic devices (e.g. Pocket PC) during the game will be expelled from the tournament.
